About Stellar
Stellar is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform that facilitates fast, low-cost cross-border transactions between any pair of currencies. It was founded in 2014 by Jed McCaleb and Joyce Kim with the aim of making monetary transactions more efficient and accessible to everyone around the world. Stellar's native cryptocurrency is called Lumens (XLM). The network is supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. Stellar's consensus protocol is different from proof-of-work or proof-of-stake, instead, it uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP) which is based on a concept called Federated Byzantine Agreement.
